Cape Town International Airport (CPT) Is the primary international airport serving the city of Cape Town, South Africa. It is located approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi) from the city centre. The airport serves both domestic and international flights.

The staff at Cape Town Airport will greet you when you land and assist with your travel needs. Once you collect your bags from the arrivals area, there are different transport options available to get you on your way.         

Getting into Cape Town from Cape Town Airport

With a range of options from public transport to app-based ride services, you can easily find a mode of transport to suit your travel needs. There are various car rental agencies available at the airport, located at the Transport Plaza and Central Terminal Building. It’s best to pre-book a rental car before your arrival and takes approximately 20 minutes to get into town. Other transport options at Cape Town Airport include shuttles arranged privately with hotels or agencies, Uber, airport transfers, and the MyCiti mass rapid transport bus system which runs into town. MyCiti is convenient if you are travelling lightly. If not, a pre-arranged transfer, taxi or car hire are your best options.

Getting around Cape Town

The best way to get around Cape Town is by car with plenty of parking and car hire companies available. Uber is a popular and safe way to get you where you want to go. Other options include the city sightseeing bus to see the major attractions such as District Six Museum, Noordhoek Beach and Table Mountain National Park. Public transport options include the MyCity Buses, Golden Arrow buses, minibus taxis and Metrorail train service. Taxis can be booked in advance or take a shared cab.

What is the main airport called? 

Christchurch Airport (CHC). The airport is located about 12 kilometres north west of the city centre, it’s the main airport that serves Christchurch. There are shops, WiFi and charging services, ATM's and airline lounges available at the airport.

 Passengers on Qantas flights from Christchurch are allocated checked baggage If you need more luggage, you can purchase an additional baggage allowance online prior to departure.
