When to visit

A town of two seasons, Broome’s tropical climate means you only have to choose between wet and dry. In the dry season, from May to October, Broome is known for its clear blue skies and balmy nights, while the wet season, from November to April, brings with it heavy rains, heat and humidity. Visitors travelling to the Top End on the shoulder of the two seasons can expect slightly lower temperatures than summer and a relaxed, off-peak atmosphere.

Arrival information

What is the main airport called?

Broome Airport. Broome Airport is located only 1.6km from the township of Broome.

Arriving at Broome Airport

The friendly staff at Broome Airport will be waiting to greet you when you land. Once you collect your bags, there are several transport options available to get you on your way.

Getting into Broome

Once you land in Broome, taxis, hire cars, the town bus service and shuttles are available outside the terminal to get you to your next stop. However, since the town centre is located within easy walking distance of the airport, you may not need a set of wheels to get to your destination. It’s a quick 3-minute drive to town, just 2km.

Getting around Broome

Once you arrive in Broome, there are a number of ways to travel around town. Broome’s compact size makes it an ideal place to explore on foot or by bike, while the town’s quiet streets are easily navigated by car. If you’d prefer to use public transport for the duration of your stay, regular buses operate between Broome and Cable Beach and the main attractions. For a different way to get around, the Broome Visitor Centre can help organise 4WD and scooter hires.
