When to visit

The best time to visit the Philippines is from December to February, when temperatures are around 24°C to 31°C. During this time the country is fully accessible, including its many beautiful islands and more remote areas. Although the dry season lasts from November to April, temperatures are high during March and April, with highs of 34°C. The wet season falls between May and October, but the rain doesn’t last all day. You can enjoy hot, sunny days with fewer crowds and lush, green scenery, though it can be humid. Typhoons can occur as from June to September.

Arrival information

What is the main airport called?

Ninoy Aquino International Airport or NAIA (MNL). Also known as Manila International Airport or simply Manila Airport, is one of the two international airports serving the Metro Manila Area and the main international gateway to the Philippines. The airport is located along the border between the cities of Pasay and Parañaque, about 7 km south of Manila.

Arriving in Manila

The friendly and helpful staff at Manila Airport will greet you when you land, and from there, getting into the city is easy.

Getting into Manila from Manila airport

With a range of transport options available at the airport, travelling into Manila s easy. Choose from taxis, car rental, airport transfer, train or bus. Taxis are a quick way to get to your hotel in metro Manila, about a 20-minute ride away. Alternatively, you may wish to order an Uber and jeeps are also available to take you anywhere in town. Major hotels often have shuttle services by private car or there is the UBE Express shuttle to Manila. The Metro-Rail Transit line is an economic way to travel from the airport to your destination. The closest station is EDSA-Taft station, 2 km north of the airport, with a shuttle bus available to take you there. It’s possible to hire a car with major car rental companies available at each terminal.

Getting around Manila

There are plenty of ways to get around Manila, whether it’s by taxi, Uber, bike taxi, jeepney or train. The cheapest and easiest way to get around Manila is using a Grab Taxi. It's the Filipino version of Uber and it's super convenient. Uber operate in Manila and it's easy to book a ride. Another fun and inexpensive way to get around the city is by Bike Taxi. It's essentially a bike with a side cabin that you sit in and get pedalled around by the friendly locals. The famous Jeepneys are an easy way to get around the city and make the perfect photo opportunity. Taxis operate throughout the city, though be sure to have the meter turned on. The Manila train (LRT) is available and a good way to avoid the traffic. One of the best ways to see the city, pop into the shops and local cafes is to walk. Alternatively, you may wish to join a guided tour.
