Enjoy New York’s Best Pizza in Sydney (for One Day Only!)
It is a fact universally acknowledged that New York does excellent pizzas. And when it comes to the city’s best, Roberta’s – a Brooklyn institution – is by far at the front of the queue. Food critics rave about them (“Perfectly enticing,” says The New Yorker), while locals of all stripes line up for its wood-fired disks laden with the most decadent cheeses and toppings.
Now, you can enjoy a slice of Roberta’s deliciousness, right here in Sydney.
Celebrated restaurant Firedoor is collaborating with the renowned New York eatery and staging a one-day Roberta’s pop-up (on Sunday 9 December) at its premises in Sydney’s Surry Hills.
As part of the collaboration, Carlo Mirarchi – the head chef and owner of the Brooklyn restaurant – will cook alongside Firedoor’s Lennox Hastie to dish up pizzas that enjoy a solid celebrity fan base (Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Hillary Clinton are all known to have succumbed to their loveliness).
Titled “Fire & Slice”, the pop-up will feature a special cocktail menu with Belvedere vodka as the key ingredient, while Messina will be on site, too, taking care of post-pizza sweet cravings.
The restaurant will open at 1pm on 9 December and will serve pizzas until the dough runs out. You can’t book a table but you can line up. And it would be totally worth it for a slice of New York without having to leave Sydney.
