Fares for Compassionate Travel

Qantas offers discounted fares to customers who need to travel for compassionate reasons. These fares are available for Australian domestic and international travel in Economy, Premium Economy and Business cabins and apply to Qantas operated and marketed flights only.

Eligibility

To be eligible, the following conditions apply:

  • The first flight departure must be within 7 days of booking
  • The return date is not restricted but must be within ticket validity
  • Only Qantas operated and marketed flights can be booked
  • Applies to customers impacted by compassionate or extenuating circumstances including but not limited to:
    • Death or grave illness to self or immediate family member or accompanying customer
    • Natural disaster or major incident
    • Major trauma e.g. crime, domestic violence or accident
    • Requirement to travel for medical reasons

Application

Compassionate fares are filed as private fares requiring an account code to book and ticket and are discounted by 10%.

To apply, you should make a booking for your customer then contact Qantas Agency Connect (QAC) for the account code to price the fare and an authority code to add to the ticket endorsement. You will need to provide supporting documentation such as a Death Certificate, Funeral Parlour Notice, Medical Certificate or letter from a hospital or lawyer for QAC to assess and authorise.

An Agent Debit Memo (ADM) will be raised if a Compassionate Fare is issued without an authority code from QAC.
