Discover Bundaberg

Set 15km inland from the coast on the banks of the Burnett River, Bundaberg is a vibrant city with something for everyone. Beautiful beaches? Check. World-class distillery? Check. Snorkelling with Turtles? Museums? Fine dining? Check, check and check.

With so much to see and do in and around Bundaberg, you'll be hard pressed to fit it all in one holiday. Luckily there's nothing that says you can only visit once, so here's some things to get you started on what is bound to be a love affair with Bundaberg that will last a lifetime.

There's something magical about seeing turtles in their natural habitat, and thankfully Bundaberg has a habitat of rare international significance right on its doorstep. At Mon Repos Conservation Park between October and April, you'll get the chance to watch nesting turtles lay their eggs in the sand or hatch and make their way towards the ocean.

If you want to do more than just watch, head to the waters off Lady Elliot Island and Lady Musgrave Island where you can swim with mature turtles year round, as well as see some of the renowned sealife for which the Great Barrier Reef is known.

Despite its natural beauty, friendly atmosphere and superb climate, there's no denying that one of Bundaberg's main claims to fame is its namesake rum. Take a tour of the Bundaberg Rum Distillery to learn about this iconic spirit, then head to the gift shop and pick up a souvenir, including a range of 8 products only available at the distillery.
