Jetstar has its own Checked Baggage Allowances for its customers. However, if your customer is travelling on Qantas marketed flight operated by Jetstar the Qantas checked baggage allowancesOpens in a new tab or window applies.

Australian and New Zealand Domestic Travel with Jetstar (JQ)

If your customer is travelling on an itinerary that is booked on a 'JQ' service the Jetstar checked baggage allowance applies.  Your customer receives 7kgs of carry on baggage free of charge on every Jetstar fare. Customers travelling with checked baggage have the option to either pre-purchase baggage or purchase at the airport on day of travel. International Travel with QF, JQ, 3K or GK

If your customer is travelling on an itinerary that includes both a Qantas operated international flights and a Jetstar operated service, the baggage allowance will depend on the marketing carrier and specific itinerary.

If they are travelling under a ‘JQ', ‘3K’ or 'GK'  flight number on the Jetstar flight, either the Jetstar ticketed allowance or the Qantas ticketed allowance may apply depending on your specific itinerary (your allowance will be shown on your ticket). Additional checked baggage allowances for Qantas Frequent Flyers and Qantas Club members are not available on Jetstar operated flights.

If your customers are travelling under a ‘QF’ flight number, the Qantas baggage allowance will apply.

Additional Baggage

If your customers are travelling under a 'QF' flight number, the Qantas baggage allowance will apply.

For travel with additional baggage, the Jetstar excess baggage rates are applicable.

Jetstar Domestic Flights:

Jetstar do not transfer bags on domestic services. When your customers are booked with connecting flights from Jetstar to Qantas they will need to collect their baggage and check-in at the connecting airport. Ensure you leave enough time for your customers to connect between flights.

Jetstar International Flights:

In most instances, your customers can be through checked along with their baggage from a Qantas domestic or international flight to a Jetstar international flight*. For baggage to be through checked (transferred) flights must be in the same booking.

For customers travelling on Jetstar domestic to Jetstar international flights, through baggage check-in is not available. Customers are responsible for collecting their baggage and re-checking in for their next flight.

Important Information

*Customers cannot currently check through from QF domestic flights that are connecting with JQ7 from Melbourne to Singapore. If they are booked on this flight, they will need to re-check in along with their luggage. Ensure you leave enough time for your customers to connect between flights as neither airline can take responsibility for missed connections.

Qantas and Jetstar International and Domestic Public fares can be combined, subject to fare rules, on QF (081) tickets. International QF/JQ mixed itineraries must include a QF Domestic or QF International flight.

Once issued, a QF fare can only be used as credit towards another QF fare and a JQ fare can only be used as credit towards another JQ fare.

Seat selection is available when your customer's booking has been completed. A fee may apply and seat selection is subject to availability. Refer to seat selection on Jetstar.comOpens in a new tab or window.

Economy Starter Plus, Economy Max passengers and Business Class passengers can select any standard seat for no extra charge, subject to availability.

For a slightly higher fee, your customer can select a seat toward the front of the aircraft, which should help them get on and off faster.

The below table shows the inflight offering for customers booked on a Qantas Codeshare Flight operated by Jetstar:

If your customers are booked on a Qantas and Partner Classic Award, food, beverages and entertainment are not included on Jetstar services unless they are booked in international Business. Items may be purchased inflight if available, and pre-purchased on international flights (excluding New Zealand).

On Jetstar international services, Comfort Packs (blanket, neck support, eyeshades and socks) may also be purchased.

Qantas Club and Jetstar partner lounges are great places to relax or work before a flight.

Business Max passengers departing on international flights with a JQ, 3K or QF code receive access to partner lounges and Qantas Club lounges, where available. No guests permitted.

Qantas Frequent Flyers could earn Qantas Points on Jetstar Starter^, Starter Plus^, Starter Max^ and Business Max^ fare types.

Important Information

^Qantas Frequent Flyer members will be eligible to earn Qantas Points on domestic Jetstar flights within New Zealand booked on Jetstar Starter fare types. However, if travelling on domestic Jetstar flights within New Zealand that connects to an international Jetstar Flight, they will not earn Qantas Points unless they purchase an Economy Starter Plus, Economy Starter Max or Business Max bundle fare with Jetstar.
