Sasha Kerkmez started his painting company, SK Group OzOpens in a new tab or window, seven years ago and almost from the start bought from Qantas Business Rewards partner PPG Paints. “Tradies are only as good as the product they use,” he explains. “You get better coverage with the paint; it lasts longer and doesn’t discolour over time.” 

He earns 40,000 to 50,000 Qantas Points a month by ordering what he needs from PPG and has used the points earned through his business for upgrades, flights and accommodation.

He attributes the ability to be rewarded on his everyday business spend as a catalyst for growing his business. “The program motivates you to get out there and get more work so you can order more paint and earn more points.”

Kerkmez hopes to expand from Sydney to Melbourne and Queensland. He has disrupted his business twice before – first when brushes and rollers gave way to spray guns and then when the property boom pushed him to step beyond small residential jobs into large-scale developments. “We’re all set in some ways,” he says. “But you always have to adapt and be the best you can.”
