Ancillary - Seat selection and additional baggage

When an order has been created, you can select seats (both free and paid seats) for the relevant flight segment. Whether a seat selection is paid or free will depend on the itinerary, booking class, and Qantas Frequent Flyer tier status of the traveller. The Qantas Distribution Platform portal will automatically display the relevant available seats and pricing options for each flight and passenger.
1. On the reservation screen (image A below), click on the <Seat> button or seat icon which will display the seat map.

2. Once the seat map is displayed, hover over each seat with your mouse curser to display the seat characteristic and price option. To switch between different flights, click on the different tabs showing each flight. You can switch between flights by selecting on tabs that represent each flight segment (image B below).

3. Select the passenger you want to reserve a seat and mark the selected seats (highlighted in orange), and click on <Submit> (image E below) .

4. The reservation screen will be displayed. To display the seat selection details (i.e. seat number and seat status) use the <arrow> icon in the Booked – Air section or the specific flight (image F below).

5. The seat status will initially be displayed as shown HN (holding - need confirmation). The confirmation of these seats may take a few minutes to validate.
6. Click on the record locator in the reservation screen to refresh the screen and await a status update.
7. Once the seat is confirmed, the following will occur:
a.For a free seat, the seat status will be updated to HK (hold – confirmed), and no further action is required (image G below).
b. For a paid seat, the status will be displayed as HD (holding confirmed; EMD required). Proceed to the next steps to issue an EMD for the paid seat (image H below).

8. On the reservation screen, click on <Issue Documents> (image H above) , which will display the issue document screen. Choose the form of payment and click on <Pay> (image I below). This will issue an EMD for the paid seat.

9. On the reservation screen, click on the seat or <arrow> icon to view the seat details (image F above). The seat’s status will display as HI (holding confirmed; EMD issued). Under the services section, the EMD-A for the paid seat will be displayed (image J below).

Note: Providing a Qantas Frequent Flyer Number for each traveller prior to seat selection will automatically return the free seat options according to their Qantas Frequent Flyer tier in the seat map. Refer to Create a traveller section on the Flight search and booking article on the Knowledge Centre, for information on adding their Qantas Frequent Flyer number for further information.
You can purchase additional baggage in the Qantas Distribution Platform portal. The type of baggage allowance (i.e. piece or weight) will depend on the itinerary. For piece allowance, the portal currently only allows one piece of baggage to be purchased. The ability to add more than one piece will be implemented in the future, and Qantas will advise when this is available.
To add and purchase additional bags:
1. Select the checkbox for the flight you wish to add additional bags.
2. Select the <Services> button (image K below) .

3. The service list screen will be displayed (image L below shows the weight additonal baggage and image M below shows the piece additional baggage). Select the additional bags that you want and click on <Continue>.

To see if the additional baggage has been added to the flight, you will need to click on the arrow to ensure that it has been added (image N below).

4. The service status may be displayed as HN (holding-need confirmation) (image O below). You may need to refresh the page by clicking on the record locator until the status has been changed to HD (holding confirmed; EMD required).
When the status is displayed as HD, then click on <Issue Document> (image H below).

5. The issue document screen will display where you can input the payment method. Once completed, select <Pay> (image I above). This will issue the document and generate an EMD.
6. Under the services section, an EMD-A for the additional baggage will then be displayed (image P below).

Unaccompanied minor (UMNR)
An unaccompanied minor (UMNR) is a child travelling without the supervision of an adult or sibling 15 years or over in the same cabin.
Please refer to the Unaccompanied Minor and Young Passenger policy on the Qantas Agency Connect site for further information.
To create an UMNR order within the Qantas Distribution Platform portal, you will need to:
Note: The UMNR Australian domestic Supervision Fee can be added during any stage of the booking (prior to booking, after booking, and after ticketing).
1. Create a Traveller and select ‘UNN’ as in the type dropdown (image Q below).
Note: The drop down list does not display all passenger types, you will need to type in UNN

2. Once the flight has been selected and added to the shopping cart, select the flight segments then select the <Services> button (image R below).

3. The service screen will display a list of services available. Select <Domestic UMNR Supervision Fee> for the relevant flight segment then <Continue> (image S below).

4. Select <Book and Hold> to create the order (image T below).

5. Select <Issue Document> (image H above).
6. Select the relevant form of payment and click <Pay> (image I above).
7. An EMD-S will be issued and displayed for the domestic UMNR Supervision Fee.
Carbon Offset (only available in Australia)
To include Carbon Offset to you customers’ booking you will need to:
1. Click on <Services>; if Carbon Offset is available for the flight, it will be displayed in the Service List screen (image U below). Select ‘Carbon Offset’ and click <Continue>.

2. The Carbon Offset will be displayed under Booked – Miscellaneous Services (image V below).
Note: The Service’s Status is displayed as HD (Holding confirmed, EMD required).

3. Click on <Issue Document> (image H above), and select the form of payment.
4. Click <Pay> to finish purchasing the carbon offset (image I above), this will issue an EMD for the service.
